The Elizabethan World View

This title is taken from E. M. W. Tillyard’s book, which is an attempt to describe the way Shakespeare’s contemporaries viewed the universe. A different view of the universe implies a different way of understanding events, characters, language—just about everything. If we can understand Shakespeare’s world better, we can begin to understand him and his work better.
